TOOL STEELS

Tool steels are noble steels used for machining and shaping materials. Like other steel groups, it is not possible to classify or limit tool steels according to chemical composition, because the chemical composition can vary in wide ranges and intersect with other steel groups.

For this reason, steels with the same chemical composition can have different properties with changes in the production methods (methods), so the material with the same chemical composition can be named with different names in different areas of use,

for example

  • 29 CrMoV 9 (1.2307, plastic injection mold
  • 30 CrMoV 9 (1.7701) tempered steel
  • 31 CrMoV 9 (1.8519) nitriding steel

The most important feature expected from tool materials is that they do not change plastic shape, do not break (or crack) and that the surface remains unchanged (general surface, oxidation, roughness, hardness, etc.) as long as possible.

Thus, it determines the most important usage properties of tool steels.
